Symposium XIII Tours - New York New York...
What a Wonderful Town

We invite you to come along on our tours to see just how wonderful - and exciting - it is. Even if you've been here before, it's always changing and lots of fun. This year we have 2 tours and both of them in Manhattan. On the first tour you will visit and see many places in lower Manhattan and, on the 2nd day, you will visit upper Manhattan. This is probably the number one tourist destination in the USA. Don't miss it. It's, did we say it?... EXCITING.

The first tour will be on Thursday, September 23rd and will leave at 11:30 AM and return at about 8 PM. You will be picked up at the hotel at 11:30 AM and then from there through the Lincoln Tunnel you will go into New York City. You will see much of lower Manhattan on this tour with particular sites of interest being Battery Park where you will view the Statue of Liberty (it's too time consuming to actually go over to the island it sits on). It is a great and awe inspiring view of the "Lady" though. Other items of interest you will pass by will be Wall Street, City Hall, the Garment District Union Square, Flat Iron building (ever heard of that?), Trinity church where Alexander Hamilton's grave site is, and then to Ground Zero. You will walk over to Winter Garden where you can get a very good view of the entire area. Ready for some Italian food, some really good Italian food in the middle of Little Italy? We'll drop you off at Sofia's Cucina where you will have your pick of 10 items. After eating, back to the bus and how about topping off the day with a visit to Times Square where you can once again get off the bus for about 1/2 hour to walk around and take it all in and it is an amazing place to be. Awesome! Some people will say it's better than the lighted "Strip of Las Vegas".

Then it's back to the hotel for a good nights sleep for there's much to see and do on Friday, September 24th.

Tour number 2 Manhattan Island, mainly the northern part of it and many are the places you will see and, possibly, if we have time, you may be able to do a little shopping or some carousing.

Pick up time will be around 7:30 or 8 AM in the morning and the reason for the early hour is traffic. We want to get through the Lincoln Tunnel in a timely fashion and, once through, you will go through Hells Kitchen, past the Soup Kitchen (from Seinfeld) and into Columbus Circle and then pass by one of the Trump buildings, Lincoln Center, The Astoria and then past the infamous Dakota Building where John Lennon was shot. After that you will get a chance to see and actually get out and walk around Central Park, one of the finest parks in the country. After a short time it's back to the bus and past the Museum of Natural History and over to St John the Devine Church where you can get out for some taking of pictures. From there it's past Columbia University and over to Grant's Tomb where you will get out for some more pictures. If time permits you will then go down 125th Street and past the famous Apollo theatre and Bill Clinton's office, all on the way to the Museum Mile - 5th Avenue, past all the famous shops and other establishments such as FAO Schwarz, The Trump Towers, Tiffany's...so many. At St Patrick's Cathedral one of the most splendored and famous churches in the world, you will get out to tour its inside and then walk a short ways over to Rockefeller Center, a real busy place. From there to Grand Central Station, a very interesting and HUGE train station and many shops and little kiosk's and restaurants. We'll have lunch there and then it's back to the hotel.

Cost of tour 1 is $67 and includes the meal at Sofia's Cucina.
Cost of tour 2 is $47 plus lunch on your own.

All monies must be sent to ST/Dystonia no later than September 15th so as to guarantee the tour buses and the meal at Sofia's Cucina. One great thing about the tour buses is that the side windows go way up and curve slightly at the top giving you a good view of the taller buildings plus there will be a tour guide on the bus once it gets to the island of Manhattan.

Coming along? We hope so. See you then!
